04.02.2023if gt7 wasn’t number 1 we were definitely gonna have a talk

03.02.2023another plus with beamng is that if you have 'automation' you can import your own home made cars into the game to test out
DirtyJerz32
03.02.2023Accurate take. Feel like iRacing would be 1 if their price model wasn’t in play. Keep the videos coming. Cheers
SimRacing Junky
03.02.2023If any of the non VR games on your list finally get VR I'll be all over them. I just can't race on a screen anymore.
Chris Croft
03.02.2023I sorry but iRacing having realistic tyre model. Most real life pro race drivers say no it doesn’t as has virtually 0 slip angle so you can drive the car in a realistic manner. Scott Dixon was a huge critic when they did iRacing at the start of the pandemic.

03.02.2023ACC is still pretty rough in VR. I haven't really been able to play it.

03.02.20238:10 No, you keep everything including your stats. Once you pay for the sub again you get it all back, you certainly don’t lose it.

03.02.2023i don't understand why ACC and not Rfactor 2. we can imagine have a lot of new content in Rfacotr 2 this years, more than ACC
Joshua Hill
03.02.2023I'm sorry Ermin, GT is definitely not a grand father. That honour surely belongs to one of Geoff Crammond's numerous racing titles that far pre-date any GT release!

03.02.2023Too bad GT7 isn't for PC.

03.02.2023I'm surprised Assetto Corsa didn't get a mention for its very active online community. With Content Manager, Custom Shaders Patch, Sol and Pure, as well as an almost unlimited array of mod cars, tracks and filters (I've currently got 417 cars and 73 tracks, most with weather fx and some with 2-way traffic), I'd say AC is surely one to keep watching in 2022. Even though AC Competizione is a slightly better game, the physics in particular, it's very limited in its content and isn't going anywhere new. Personally, I'm waiting for AC2 and spending most of my time in AC.
Since you pointed out things I didn't know about BeamNG I just might have to give it a whirl. It looks like loads of fun.

02.02.2023Awesome video! Can't wait for ACC pack but also have to try the Beamng thing, seems really nice!

02.02.2023rFactor 2 is better then them all.. hands down.

02.02.2023I have a special place for gran turismo in my heart, but let's face it, it is dying, quickly.

02.02.2023Sorry but I couldn’t find it anywhere that you loose your iRacing content if your membership lapses

02.02.2023I really want gt7 to come to pc. I don't want to buy a Playstation for 1 game but…

02.02.2023Great coverage of all the major titles. I'm, myself, an iRacing enthusiast am curios as to how you feel about GT7 just porting over the GT Sport data and online system. Does it make it seem lack luster in terms of the online portion, it being the same as the last game? Additionally, I would love to give BeamNG a try, but find it hard because of that lack of Simucube support. I haven't tried it lately but would love to give it a go if there was the ability to use my hardware in that Sim.
Metla666
02.02.2023ACC is still absolute crap in VR….

02.02.2023BeamNG is lovely – I just wish it had VR support 🙁

02.02.2023Gt7 will destroy motorsport that's coming from a forza fan boy.

02.02.2023iRacings crown in their curated online racing.
I can see Kunos starting to nip and their heals now they have a size to manage an economy of scale.
Also, think when Assetto Corsa 2 comes out in 2024 it will have a more modern engine and hopefully the range of driving options with modern online racing support.
It's going to be an interesting few years for sim racers.

01.02.2023BeamNG is the one i'm looking forward the most to be honest, the amount of content and how it evolved over the years is quite amazing.
I've been spending a good chunk of my free time over the past few months working on a racetrack and i'm trying to figure out a pipeline to make tracks that allows for easy conversions to multiple games on different engines. Adjustments will need to be made for each game but the goal is to get at least 80% there and leave the remaining 20% or less to adapt the track to a specific game.
For a bit of context: AC, beam, carx and unreal engine based games have very different way to implement stuff, 3d models need to be converted to files the game can read, textures need to be tailored to the game (but with pbr the workflow is more standardized), collision meshes need to be retouched for the specific game and a whole load of other technical things running under the hood that you have to keep account for.
The rise of photogrammetry for racetrack mods is a good thing but i think it's way too early to see highly polished tracks from the modding community without an enormous amount of time spent in cleaning up the models. A hybrid approach between photogrammetry and traditional modeling could very well be the way to go though. Looking back at the photogrammetry based tracks available at the moment, you can see the potential but also the shortcomings of that. Photogrammetry tends to be a resource intensive endeavour, you need hundreds if not thousands of pictures of a road to capture a high enough quality scan (so quite a lot of gigabytes of pictures and hours of computing the 3d meshes) or you can go with fewer pictures but do more manual work in cleaning up.
What i'm trying to do is while i'm working on my own racetracks to develop as many tools as i can to speed up the workflow and make conversions easier. Procedural road generators (with guardrails, power poles, lights and so on), road signs generators, materials, props and other asset libraries are on the menu and i want to distribute all of that for free to enable other modders to do faster work. One of the strong traits of racing games is how far the community works to mod and expand the games they play on, so why not help them? After all the base line for people who get into modding games is not professionals from the industry but passionate people who just love what they do so much that they decide to sink time and energy into learning a whole new medium of art to make their ideas come to life and for other people to enjoy.
That being said, my free time is very little since i'm working on mods for 3 other games (yeah i know, i get too excited about stuff and get tangled up in such messes) but i'm working on reorganizing so that i can get those projects out and done asap and focus more on racetracks, as the more i work on em the more i want to spend time on it.
In all honesty i don't have really a time frame on when i'll be able to publish my first racetrack but i'm pretty sure it will be before the end of the year, ideally before summer. First release will be for AC, then beamng and carx if there is enough time.
The racing sim mod scene looks promising but i also see that currenty it is very much limited. AC runs on a way too old engine and tracks are severely limited by it, you can't have hundreds of km of road as anything above 20km needs to be stripped down to the bone for AC to run decently as it was designed for tracks and not for open road, on the other side though mods are easy to make and there are so many you'll probably never run out of content to play on. BeamNG on the other hand handles no problem way more massive environments since it's built on cryengine and the map editor is basically like using cryengine itself, you just press F11 in game. It's so easy to mod for beamng that you can just drop 3d files without conversion in the game editor while running and it just works (which should be the standard imo). On the other side, beam is made on cryengine, which severly limits mods made in beam to work only on beam, unless you spend a good chunk of time converting roads to decals, adjust terrains and so on. Cryengine is not really that much popular in games these days, i just wish Beam was developed for unreal or unity and mods for beam would be much easier to convert for other games.
I'm placing my hopes on Unreal 5 for the future of racing sims. Having at your hands tech like nanite, lumen and megascans for environment building is probably what could launch the sim racing scene into another golden era: nanite and world partition can enable hyperrealistic graphics on massive scales, so hundreds of km of roads can be made much quicker by modders to almost AAA quality. You only have to pour blood sweat and tears into making a good enough driving simulation code behind all of it as the included vehicle system in unreal needs a deep rework – if not to be remade from scratch. Chaos vehicles in unreal: why the hell you derive the engine rpm from the wheel rotation so that when you start drifting the engine dies?
Rants aside, i'm a 3D modeler by trade, not a programmer or a racecar/sim driver, i just take the 86 drift tune in AC down akina on the weekends for some relaxing drifting, so for now all i can do is make tracks. It would be nice to know from actual pro drivers what are the turnoffs and turn-ons you find in the mods you play. it's the graphics? the way the road feels? What exactly does make a mod tick for you?
An interesting video to make ( pls Ermin 🙂 maybe with Jimmy from the uk too ) going over a bunch of track mods from different games and go over the stuff you like and what you don't like. I got the looks down, it's my job after all, but what i'm most concerned about is to get as close as i can to an authentic road feel on the tracks i'm working on and i'd love to know your thoughts on what's out there, what good it does and what it can improve on. Most of all, could be a useful point of reference for modders on things to look out for when making tracks, so to up the quality.

01.02.2023I’m very excited for GT7. But what would be awesome to see 3-4 years down the line is a GT Sport 2. Running on the same engine with most of the cars and all the features. But completely dedicated to realism. I feel if Sony and Polyphony put some resources into it they could make something that challenges the likes of maybe the original AC by making the game more realistic, less forgiving and more hardcore while getting rid of a lot of the arcade characteristics.

01.02.2023how i love beamng is always a part of those games to watch because it keeps evolving so much over the years, what an amazing dev team
Sigma Integrale Motion Systems
01.02.2023BeamNG started with the right fundamentals. It going to start reaping the infinite rewards soon.

01.02.2023To be fair, the TOCA/Grid and Colin Mcrae/Dirt series have been around as long as Gran Turismo and the Test Drive series is even older

01.02.2023Psuedo intellectual. Please, I like the videos, why the insistence on whipping out the thesaurus? You’re trying way too hard to sound smart, and it pulls me out of the content.
NekoObito
01.02.2023As long as Turn10 UPDATES THEIR DAMN SOUNDS FOR THE ENGINES!!!! FM8 COULD be good. I highly doubt this however as they haven't updated some of their sounds since FM4 looks at rotary engine sounds among others
Say_it
01.02.2023AC should be in the top 5 . Not understanding true AC potential which is way beyond it's age and some technical issues is ignoring a big part of the sim racing universe. I love Beam NG but it's way far from being a racing title like the title suggest. Also even if it's still EA, you should have mentioned it's horrible UI and buggy gameplay which could upset many beginners. Other than that i'm ok with the rest.
Sideways Singh
01.02.2023Incredibly excited for gt7, especially gt sophy the revolutionary a.i coming in a later update down the line. That a.i is shocking to watch race, it beat the world fastest drivers, and it races fairly clean, and knows how to defend and race like the best players. Plus that was a year ago, they are still going to do alot of work on it and add difficiulty levels. I played every gt game with a wheel, I started in 2001 when I was still a little kid, I learned how to drift and drive on a race track from gt.

01.02.2023If Gran Turismo wouldn't exist, many other games wouldn't exist
Beamng drive
29.01.2023Car Games! My mission is to entertain you guys with an amazing channel that talks about collision physics, with a whole range of different themed videos
Breyzipp
29.01.2023Lol I missed this completely, I was looking at a “top 10 part 2” video, not a “top 5” video. Man you failed at clickbaiting me even when I wanted to see part 2 😂

29.01.20239:20 considered unsubscribing after you said “ergo” 😂

29.01.2023Forza miles better than Gran Turismo, tried both constantly, easy Forza, dont believe the GT hype.

29.01.2023Would add Rf2 with the strong latest update (new UI, m4, daytona, indycar… ) still missing true competition system

29.01.2023After playing all the serious sim racers recently, I've realized just how different they are, sometimes it's only a slightly different feel in a certain aspect but it's there. I think I preferred ACC out of all the big titles.

29.01.2023At Costco they have this exotic Car collection 3 pieces have to become a member. Have a membership card to shop at Costco. Membership based company.

29.01.2023iRacing is such a fucking scam
Why everything should be locked behind a paywall is beyond me
Svpracer98
29.01.2023Iracing is a love hate game. Making a last corner pass is such a heart racing event. But its soul crushing getting wrecked in the first corner when the flag drops
Gt7 is just going to be gt7. I highly anticipate sitting down with a controller and playing it for the next 6 months
BeamNG really shines when taking a car and just barely driving on the wreckless side of the law.
Animal Mother
29.01.2023Highly appreciated the old school Need For Speed High Stakes/Road Challenge soundtrack playing in the F1 2022 part.

28.01.2023Why do u 🇬🇧 guys have to say FORTZA there is no T in that title at all.
Hannah Taylor
28.01.2023I feel like this is a really niche want but I hope forza motorsport is able to make the wheel turn more than 90 degrees in either direction.
DechriGaming
28.01.2023I feel quite nervous for F1 2022. New cars require quite the effort to do and with EA breathing in their necks to bring in more microtransactions. Maybe a mode like FUT and HUT to make a proper gambling engine into the game. I fear the focus might shift to more monetizeable game modes.

28.01.2023Your music choice for your videos is really good

28.01.2023GT finally getting some love from this sim nerd, lmao. Love y'all.

28.01.2023I wait more for FM8, GT7 is the same soup and GT sport users already noticed this. Important thing is just SHOW because idiots just want that from a Sim. Straight line on FORZA wheel, without hands, stays straight like in REALITY, up to today PC"SIMS" in a straight line they wobble and they are called Sims!!! sad story that will never end.
Samulation
28.01.2023If you don’t renew iracing membership then you don’t lose your content, if you eventually renew you still have the cars and tracks

28.01.2023I've been playing gran turismo since day 1 way back 25 years ago so naturally I can't wait for 7! 5 days and counting
