26.07.2022I've always hated these racing lines. They are the first thing I turn off. Then I turn of those ridiculous name tags over cars that is plaguing racing games now adays.

26.07.2022oh, common, the F1 games are simcade, and its rubbish

25.07.2022I have no problem understanding racing lines. But I still can't drive without it cause I have no idea of every corner's braking zone. Remembering every braking point would take a lot of effort and having the racing line as a guideline for braking points but not relying on it as the racing line I found works best for me.
The problem with Apexes in the F1 game is that if you touch some inside curbs (for example turn 2 of spain and turn 5 of hungary). If you touch those even a little bit it does not matter if you're fast or slow or on throttle or not, you always spin.

25.07.2022It would be great to see you driving with the racing line to see the difference with your ideal line and the line that the game gives to you

25.07.2022Hey Scott, banger of a video mate. I've just bought a sim rig and this is exactly what I was looking for, other channels don't even bother with this probably because it takes a lot more effort to make. I can't believe you're only getting ad-revenue for this
Frederik Christiansen
25.07.2022I need help.
My green bar, it shows speed or something, but mine doesn't get full and it that means my car doesn't drive to its full speed.
What do i do?
matt Alford
25.07.2022And all in game racing lines aren't the sane. Assetto corsa has a stagnant line that never changes the breaking points depending on speed. Gt sport does. But gt sport also uses breaking cone markers so I don't use the racing line in gt sport. I use the cones.
matt Alford
25.07.2022Gt sport also tells you what gear you should be in for the next corner. Extremely helpful.

25.07.2022These videos are truly helpful. Thank you

25.07.2022real pros ignore the racing line

23.07.2022Just never put that stupid racing line on

23.07.2022A good example of an ideal racing line is at Zandvoort at turn 3, because of the banking

23.07.2022I support turning off all assists as much as possible, but I don't actually mind racing line (or just corner lines) as they are just another reference point and reflect your current speed on top of that. So for short sessions it's just so easy to get the feel of how much later can I brake and it even accounts for any speed delta, which stationary reference point wouldn't do for me and I would have to adjust for that on the fly.
Honestly I just feel the problem is not the assist itself, but it's how people use it and how much they obey it. I still fully endorse learning to race the proper way, but I wouldn't force everyone into turning it off if it meant they would spend less time with their family as they "have to practice a track for tonight's race with friends".

23.07.2022THEN HALFWAY INTO THIS THE AI SLAMS INTO YOU AT FULL SPEED !

23.07.2022And what to do on Bahrain hairpin at sector 2, that's a very rare turn at least for me that I'm new

23.07.2022Best tip for removing the racing line is that you need to accept you're just gonna be slow until you learn the tracks properly. You just need to dedicate some time where you're not competing, do practice sessions and drive the tracks slow. Be disciplined with it. Keep your mind on the end goal and don't get distracted trying to be fast or by racing other cars. Just learn to enjoy and appreciate the tracks on your own before competing until you're feeling confident. Most of it is just learning the braking points anyway so it shouldn't take too long for most people if you've already got solid experience with the game.
Side note, I really enjoy the classic cars for practice, much simpler to drive, no worries about DRS, ERS, tyres, etc. BrawnGP is an incredible car and you really get a more natural and organic feel for the tracks in that car I've found.

23.07.2022I never used the racing line assist to determine my ideal racing line, i always do a line that i feel confident about the car's speed and stability, but the braking point is a problem for me, since i don't have a good memory. I use just on the corners (This option is avaliable) to have a reference of where to brake when I'm coming faster than usual (For example, using DRS, Overtake Mode or both)
My ideal racing line is never the one that the game suggests. For example, when playing Assetto Corsa Competizione, my line for Variante Ascari (Monza) and the Chicane RACC (Barcelona-Catalunya) is to always keep it as tight as possible throughout the first part of the chicanes to have a better and faster exit, while the game suggests me to do the shorter line instead of the faster. At Silverstone (In the same game), things are the same at Village – The Loop part. The game suggests me to go as fast as i can on the first one and keep it tight at the second one, while i keep it tight at the first one to open the exit of the second one

23.07.2022Hey, could you make a video on how to save tyres during a race ? With comparasion between a lap saving tyres and a lap pushing max limit ?
Visan Georgian
23.07.2022I hate the racing line. Sometimes the racing line is not the fastest line for me, I never ever use it. I’d rather do 100 laps to learn the track rather then start using it.
Detective Payne
23.07.2022simply don't start with it on, learn the tracks by yourself and grow on your own
Brady Hill
23.07.2022I know the F1 games don’t have the track days with ai but in Assetto corsa that’s what I use to learn a new track.
Matei Vlad
23.07.2022I never thought I’m losing time because of the racing line.
White Lighting MotorSports RTM
21.07.2022That’s understandable but we are racing IDIOTS ON F1 😳 if we did race the perfect line there will be 10 or better cars that will hit/ram in turn one. The IDIOTS NEED A CLASS ON how to apply the fucking brake and BRAKING In the Corners WITH OUT THE LINE…..😳😳👍🏻 line don’t mean shit if you are getting ram by a idiot in other words is what I’m saying
ricardo lopes
21.07.2022inicial i was slower, but few days after turning the virtual race line off im around 1,5 to 2 seconds faster per lap……. namely cus the virtual race line is made in a way that is just for a safe speed on the conner and not for the car limit speed on that conner…… PS. Sorry my bad english….. keep the good work love your channel.
Robert Simpson
21.07.2022Do all these principles work for those of us who do not own steering wheels and are still using controllers?
Leroy Walker
21.07.2022This is true.
The only reason I only use it is because I need a general idea of the the braking points.
Nothing more and nothing less

21.07.2022I watched a braking video and this one, and my times got quicker. After hearing you say these things, it made perfect sense. It's right there, but overlooked. And I was in the habit of trying to brake later, but a smoother exit is proving faster. Thank you.
PJB
20.07.2022Feel like a good addition to racing games would just be a braking point indicator, but without the racing line through the corner. This allows you to make your own braking / acceleration decisions after you initially start to brake without having to memorise braking points for every circuit

Could you go through the use of pro steering wheel, how to use Diff +/- and Brake bias?
I upgraded my rig from Logitech G920 to Fanatec, but I am still stuck on the old setup, just using ERS and DRS buttons, and Pit limiter.
Cheers, love your vids. <3
