The overtake rules are a mess. Simple fix: In a overtake on the inside or outside the attackers front wheels must be equal to or passed the defenders back wheels then the defender must leave room for the attacker. If the attackers front wheels are not passed or equal to the defenders back wheels the defender can close the door on the attacker.
I watched this video and all I can think of is how many times Max dive-bombed, weaved way too much and didn't give drivers space and blatantly walking them off the track. He did all that in the final race alone. No consequences. I'm calling it the 'Netflix effect' meaning the change from following rules to wanting an Americanised 'show'.
Rule 1: If the driver behind you puts part of his car side by side with yours, you have to leave enough space in track to take the corner safely. Rule 2: You can't change your trajectory if the car behind you is at less than 0.5 seconds. That's it. Rules in F1 are not designed to make the sport better. Those are designed to generate money by causing controversy, big fan reactions (same as football) and favoring the interests of investors at the moment.
Hamilton Rule: It's OK to drive straight into a curve even if by continuing to drive straight your runs into the side of the car (Albon, Albon, Verstappen) ahead of you that is already following a driving line through the curve and knock that car ahead of you off the track and out of the race
If verstappen actually followed the rules/etiquette of passing he would never get passed anyone. EVERY time he goes for a corner pass, it's a dive bomb, followed by running the other car off the track. When someone dares to pull the old verstappen on him he (and that whining clot christian horner) cries foul and instantly starts screaming about unsafe driving and drivers being banned from races! LOL.
No, I am NOT glad I clicked on this video: All the childish clips in it make it look like produced by amateurs – and I actually learned very little about the rules.
The F1 circuits are definitely not made for real racing…it’s generations old and did not factor in that current cars ARE HEAVIER, WIDER AND LONGER ! I got hooked on F1 when cars were smaller and V8 ruled….the sounds and real competitive driving were RAW AND EXCITING… the battling is gone..it’s still a processional and very boring… perhaps this “safe space” environment is what the current “woke” generation think is exciting and great…us old school fans were fortunate to witness THE BEST IN F1.
1:08 silly. its faster go racing line no overtake lol. if cant wiggle wobble its same as lets drive 300km straight and see who has fastest car? its car racing. why there is drs anyway and then cant defent posistion lol. who want overtake outside racing line and get dirt on tyres lol. not matter? when someone overtake on drs zone then you can get it back next. wait no. bcoz those they designed it wrong. next drs zone detection should be end of last one. or same as no drs at all. let drivers show driving skill?
4:05 looks normal to me. why try overtake small corner outside. its wrong racing line lol. if outside is faster then why first one drive that if it faster then you cant overtake inside LOL dont get it at all lol lol ofc inside car drift and push other car from track hje drive faster than he should. why this silly lewis try overtakle lol
And I thought NASCAR was bad about too many rules.
I personally think there shouldn't be any "overtaking rules" they're just stupid so unless a lapped car is blocking the leader than there's no reason to be making rules the drivers can deal with it. Or in NASCAR you can but Formula 1 cars are so fragile that you can't spin someone out without destroying your own car. The last thing is a quote from Brad Keslowski: "there are too many d*** rules, we should tear out half the rule book and just race"
If there's one thing I've learned in life, the key to progressing is controlling ones ego, whereby you do your best to become its master instead of its slave. Knowing when to accelerate, when to brake, or stop completely and recharge helps bring not only peace and trust, but lets others overtake and bring their brilliance to the forefront while you marvel and maybe learn something from it too. If everyone let their genius run rampant, we'd likely have no world at all.
There is a rule that defines, that the attacking cars front axis has to be on the same high oder higher compared to the back axis of the defending car. If this is in case, the attacking car is allowed to move inside a corner next to the defending car. In other cases the attacking car's to far away.
